Who Is IF?In 2007, Sara Patterson, an 11 year old girl, wanted to purchase a $500 ticket to a George Wythe Foundation fundraising dinner. She wanted to help, and she wanted to attend. Nothing would stop her – even after being told that this event was not for anyone under 18 years of age. She earned every dollar – including enough for a dress fitting for the evening! Those over the event reminded her that there were no refunds, and that when she was sorry that she had spent $500 this way to not be upset with them. She enjoyed every minute of raising the money – enough to decide she loved giving, and wanted to promote philanthropy. She founded IF and became a sponsor of the same event in 2008 and 2009 by purchasing an entire table each year for youth under the age of 18, who would each pay for their own $500 seat by earning the funds themselves. Inspired by other youth; Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, Little Red Wagon, and Ryan’s Well, her vision is to seek out philanthropic organizations and help raise money or donate time by getting youth together, and helping others realize that by pulling their resources together, they can be and do so much more. |
